FINALLY I have it up and running! My long awaited etsy shop. I have dreamed about getting it going for years and now I finally have something to show for my long hours huddled by my craft table. I can't tell you how exciting it is to have a space that showcases my work. It has been awhile since I have really sat in the studio, and now it's all I can think about. Stay tuned for updates on my creative process and be on the lookout for tutorials! Now that I can't stop creating I want to spread the obsession to anyone who stumbles upon my blog! Toucan: Lead Me Somewhere!
I created this surreal pen drawing of a toucan a couple months ago but just forgot to upload. I continue to do these drawings but still have not figured out how to take it to the next level. I don't think of them as complete drawings but rather sketches that will inspire something yet to be determined. I have been doing a lot of surreal pen drawing of various animals, specifically birds, but don't really know why. And I want to know why! It feels like an unconscious doodle, very meditative when I'm drawing these. Hmmm... Can you sense my uncertainty?

Photography
I took this photograph of my father for a painting class and never ended up using it. I ran across it in my iphoto and really enjoyed all the the activity moving around him and the expression on his face. Wish I had a nicer camera but I think even with a basic camera this photo has a strong narrative. My dad is a small business owner in a small central Minnesota town. Its inspiring to be his daughter and know that he had the motivation and drive to take my grandfathers bankrupt company and turn it into a business that has supported our family for 30+ years.
